Elements and Performance Criteria
- Plan and prepare for isolate and access plant
- Access, interpret and apply isolate and access plant documentation and ensure the work activity is compliant
- Identify, record and confirm item of plant, and work to be carried out
- Identify and address potential risks, hazards and environmental issues, and implement control measures
- Select and wear personal protective equipment appropriate for work activities
- Identify and apply written or verbal permit procedure
- Obtain permit clearance before commencing work activity
- Obtain and interpret emergency procedures, and be prepared for fire/accident/emergency
- Isolate plant
- Resolve coordination requirements with others at the site prior to commencing and during isolation activities
- Establish and maintain a safe working area
- Ensure isolation of all required energy sources and immobilisation of potential energy sources
- Place locks and tags on isolation devices in accordance with the type of permit procedure
- Identify and report breaches in permit procedure safety to authorised personnel
- Complete permit-to-work form
- Return plant to service
- Resolve coordination requirements with others at the site prior to commencing and during de-isolation activities
- Obtain confirmation that work has been completed and is ready for return to service
- Check designated work to be completed with work/site contract and/or site procedure
- Remove locks and tags from isolation devices
- Restore energy sources
- Identify and correct or report situations, which may endanger individuals or workers
- Confirm all permits are cancelled before plant is brought back into operation
